2019 Visit to Ochsenfurt

the 30th year of twinning between our two towns, 23 of us travelled
this July to Ochsenfurt. This was a thoroughly enjoyable visit, once
all the bags on the plane to Frankfurt had finally been reunited with
their owners! On the first full day (Friday July 19th) we spent the day
in the Spa town of Bad Kissingen. The picture below shows us there in
rather ‘English’ weather conditions. We were shown around by Peter
Wesselowsky, a former major of Ochsenfurt, and we visited a museum that
celebrated the links that Otto von Bismarck had with the town.

A highlight of the second day (Saturday July 20th) was an evening meal at
the Trias Museum. The food was superb and a lovely cake was specially
made for the occasion: this is shown in the first picture below with the
Sugar Fairy cutting the cake in the second picture, aided by Peter
Juks, the current Ochsenfurt Major, and our own Councillor Ann Roberts.
There was plenty of time for various activities on the Sunday; the
third picture shows two of our hosts in traditional Bavarian dress
preparing to attend a local beer festival.
